Pitchoune’s story is one of those encounters you never forget.
It all started with a simple Facebook post:
a tiny injured puppy, with a deep wound stretching across half her back.
No one seemed willing to help… so I went.
When I found her, her first instinct was to hide under a car.
But the moment I managed to hold her in my arms, she calmed down.
And I completely melted for her gentle gaze and her mismatched eyes —
half blue, as if she refused to leave childhood behind,
and half brown, as a reminder that, even after just a few months on this earth, she had already lived a thousand lives.
The weeks of care were long.
And yet, despite the pain and lingering trauma, Pitchoune never stopped playing, trotting around, and seeking the company of other dogs.
She’s a true pack dog, always surrounded, loved by everyone at the Rancho.
She quickly figured out how things work here — and she’s now under the watchful protection of my big gentle giants.
Today, her wound has healed, but her heart remains wide open.
She’s kept that slightly dreamy look that makes her so endearing.
